How It Works

Little Critter™ Shield Serum contains 100% Dimethicone, which works by physically coating lice and eggs rather than using insecticides.

The serum spreads evenly through the hair and scalp, helping to immobilize lice and loosen attached nits for easier mechanical removal with a lice comb.

The Complete Head Lice Elimination Routine

For best results, follow all four steps:

Step 1: Apply Little Critter™ Shield Serum

Start with dry hair.

Shake the bottle well and apply the serum generously directly to the scalp and hair roots. Massage gently and work through the entire length of the hair until fully coated.

Pay special attention to:

• Behind the ears
• Back of the neck
• Crown of the head

Hair should appear evenly coated and slightly glossy.

Leave on for 4–8 hours.

Step 2: Comb Out Lice & Nits

Using a fine lice comb:

• Divide hair into small sections
• Comb from scalp to hair ends
• Wipe the comb on a white tissue after each stroke
• Check for lice and nits
• Rinse the comb frequently in warm water

Continue until all sections have been thoroughly combed.

Step 3: Wash the Hair

Wash hair with regular shampoo and rinse thoroughly.

Because Dimethicone creates a protective coating, 3–4 shampoo washes may be required to completely remove residue.

If hair still feels coated after the first wash, simply shampoo again until clean.

Hair may feel slightly conditioned after treatment and will typically feel soft, smooth, and manageable once fully washed.

Step 4: Repeat Treatment (Important)

Because lice eggs may hatch after the initial treatment, a follow-up check is essential.

Day 1

• Comb thoroughly

Day 7–10
• Check hair carefully
• If any live lice are present, repeat the treatment and combing routine

This follow-up timing helps eliminate newly hatched lice before they can reproduce.

Additional Hygiene Tips

To help prevent reinfestation:

• Wash bedding and pillowcases
• Clean hairbrushes and combs
• Wash hats and hair accessories
• Vacuum soft furnishings where necessary
